Konga Cafe Rib Special

Konga Cafe, an awesome Caribbean restaurant in Saskatoon, is located at 204 Avenue H in a little strip mall. They serve authentic Caribbean cuisine including what we had, the slow roasted rib special with rice, the jerk chicken and some fish. The food was served hot and fast and was delicious. I am picky about my ribs and these were great! The meat came off the bones nicely and the flavour was mouth watering. The sauce had a hint of cinnamon which was a delight. The portion sizes were huge which I like since I can take some home for the next day which we did. Ofcourse, I had a Red Stripe beer to add to the experience.

Almost forgot, we were served johnny cakes as an appetizer which were moist and tasty. I think one of the best parts of the Konga Cafe was the ambiance that the owners, Eddy and Marcia, have created with a personal touch to the decor and the really friendly atmosphere. We felt like we were eating in their dining room at home. They were always laughing and talking, making you feel like you were in a house full of friends. For dessert, we had the key lime pie and our friend ordered something that was not key lime pie and they delivered. He put together a dessert that was not really on the menu but was delicious with ice cream, rum soaked fruit and sponge cake. The price of the meals was reasonable considering the amount of food you got and the atmosphere which for sure brings customers back again and again. We shall be returning soon as well.
